Sharpening Your Drill Bits
• Drill Bits- sized between 7/64" to 3/8" diameter
First, install the drill bit guide included with your Dremel Sharpening Station onto the motor unit following the 6700 "Installing and Removing Guides" in the User's Manual.
Once the Sharpener is plugged in and turned on, remove the drill bit holder from the drill bit guide and insert the bit to be sharpened. Reference the graphic below if needed.
Turn the knob clockwise to lightly tighten the holder, but leave it loose enough so the drill bit is still free to move and is not held in securely. Then place the drill bit holder into the alignment block of the drill bit guide.
Next, you want to set the drill bit angle by holding the V block down against the drill bit holder, and while the bit is pushed upward and gently rotated. Once the bit rotates it will drop fully into the V block and be properly aligned.
After setting the angle, you want to set the depth of the drill bit. Allow the V block and bit to slide upward together until the tip of the bit reaches the depth pin. Then rotate the knob clockwise to tighten the drill bit holder entirely.
Now, if your drill bit holder is square to the drill bit it is properly aligned, which means you are ready to remove the drill bit holder from the alignment block. If it is not squarely aligned, start over from step 3.
You're now ready to switch your motor unit to "ON" and insert the drill bit holder into the sharpening block. Grip the sharpening block and drill bit holder and rotate the guide right to left to begin sharpening the face of the dull bit. Continue rotating the guide until the sharpening sound stops.
Flip the bit 180 degrees and reinsert it into the guide to sharpen the other side. Follow the same left and right rotating motion until the sharpening sound stops again.
Finally, turn off your Sharpening Station, turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen the holder, and remove your freshly sharpened drill bit
Follow these steps for your entire collection of drill bits, extending the life of the bits and making your projects easier!
