Begin by selecting two matching chairs. They could be an old set ready for a make-over, or search flea markets to find a pair that fit your style.
Using a hammer, gently tap the underside of the seat to remove the cushions from both chairs.
Next, using the MM20 equipped with the MM450 Wood & Drywall Saw Blade, cut off the tops of the legs flush with the seat supports to create a flat surface area.
Repeat this step in all four corners of each chair.
To ensure that the surface will be flat, use the MM20 with a sanding pad to smooth the top of each leg.
Measure and mark a piece of 3/4" plywood to the desired length and width for the bench platform.
Using the US40 equipped with the US500 Carbide Wood Cutting Wheel, cut the plywood along the marked lines.
To create a better fit where the platform meets the back of the chair, use the US40 and US500 wheel to cut off the four bench corners.
To create a plush and finished look, use a measuring tape and scissors to cut foam and fabric for the seat. The foam can be cut to the dimensions of the platform.
When cutting the fabric, leave enough over hang on the sides and ends so you can wrap it and secure it to the bottom of the platform.
Layer the fabric and foam on the platform. Beginning in one corner, and working your way around each edge, pull the fabric tight as you secure it to the underside of the plywood with a stapler or brads.
With the upholstered side of the platform laying on a flat surface, place one chair seat on each end, and secure the bench to the chairs using a driver and 3/4" corner braces.
Once complete, and with one person on each side, carefully flip the completed bench over and into place in your room. Then, let the relaxing begin!
